About Us

We’re the Cook’s

Hey there, we’re Cam & Lauren Cook. We’ve been married since 2014 and are super passionate about cooking great food, trying new wines, shaking up some great cocktails and just relaxing at home with friends and family. We’ve got two young boys who always keep us on our toes. Since we’ve been married, we’ve always dreamt of having our own blog, where we could sort of catalog all of our culinary experiments. Everything you’ll find on this site has been something we’ve personally made, tried, used or loved. We hope you enjoy what you find, and don’t forget to get connected with us via email and social media!

Lauren Cook – Founder & Culinary Director

Lauren’s first memories about food are Stuffed Shells, Turtle Bread and her Nana’s Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie. She grew up in Arlington, TX and found herself playing college volleyball on a full-ride scholarship at Abilene Christian University. Almost immediately after graduation, she enrolled in culinary school at the Fort Worth Culinary Institute and then took off for the Italian countryside where she volunteered on organic farms for three months.

Lauren returned to the states and found her way into the restaurant scene. Starting out as a pastry chef, she eventually found herself working as the sous chef of a premier farm-to-table restaurant in Dallas. A few years later, she got into the private chef business and never looked back. The freedoms she has as a private chef really allow her to explore all sorts of cuisines. While she naturally gravitates towards traditional European and Continental cooking, she’s also well-versed in restrictive diets like Keto, Gluten Free, Whole 30, Paleo and more. Lauren is also phenomenal at baking & pastry. Some of her signature items include Goat Cheese Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Banana Bread.

Cameron Cook – Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Cam’s journey into the food & beverage world began at age 18 when he took a job as a delivery driver for a small mom-and-pop Italian joint in North Dallas. He caught the foodie buzz and quickly found himself enrolling in the hospitality program at Johnson & Wales University in Denver, CO. After graduating with degrees in culinary arts and foodservice management, he spent the next years working in the mountains of Aspen, CO. He eventually wound up back in Texas and has been here ever since.

Over the past 18 years, he’s found himself in a variety of different roles ranging from Executive Chef to General Manager. He’s a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and has over 10 years of experience as professional wine buyer. He also picked up an extensive amount of craft cocktail knowledge while bartending at one of the O.G. craft cocktail bars in Dallas for a few years (where the two of them met). Cam’s favorite wines usually come from the Rhone region of France, and he also loves trying new bourbons and sipping tequila.
