This pork tenderloin is “Everything!” It has a crunchy, savory crust on the outside and a tender, juicy center. We use a fun and trendy seasoning in a unique and delicious way.
Who Invented The Everything Bagel?
Several people claim to have invented the everything bagel. David Gussin claimed he invented it around 1980 when he was sweeping leftover bagel toppings from the oven. Instead of throwing away the leftover toppings, he saved them and convinced the store owner to make bagels with this special blend.
The everything bagel ingredients vary, but the common ingredients include poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, garlic flakes, sunflower seeds, caraway seeds, pretzel salt and black pepper. Trader Joe’s, Costco, and most grocery stores now carry “Everything Bagel Seasoning.”
We always have a jar of it at our house. Our favorite breakfast is Everything Bagel Avocado Toast. As a quick snack, I like to sprinkle it over hard boiled eggs. It’s even fun to sprinkle on hummus or a simple roasted vegetable. This seasoning adds a salty, crunchy and savory twist on many of your favorite simple meals.
About this Recipe
Everything Bagel Seasoning I use the Everything Bagel Seasoning as a shortcut because I dont typically have all of the spices in my pantry. It is already seasoned so there is no reason to add salt to this recipe. I tried several different ratios of the seasoning blend for this recipe and this ratio of corn meal to seasoning creates the perfect flavor and crust.
Corn Meal I tried making this pork with just the seasoning blend and it was a tad too salty and the seasoning didn’t stay on the pork very well. Using corn meal in this recipe helps cut some of the salt in the Everything Seasoning and add a little texture.
Dijon Mustard I coat the pork tenderloin in Dijon as a binder for the Everything Sesoning. Dijon creates the perfect “glue” for the seasoning to stick, while also giving a great layer of flavor.
Pan Sear the Pork Searing the pork and then finishing it in the oven creates a perfect crust while evenly cooking the pork internally to 145 degrees.
Sides I love to serve this pork with something creamy like mashed potatoes, cauliflower mash or creamed spinach and some simple roasted vegetables. We smoked a block of cream cheese the other day and used it as a sauce and it was incredible. Cam will have to post that recipe soon!
